In this small commentary by William Wright on Syriac, supplementing the information in his monumental Catalogue, he discusses the purchase of the Dayr al-Suryan convent by the merchants of Tikrit for 12,000 dinars. Contrary to popular belief, numerous Syriac manuscripts were not taken from Dayr al-Suryan in the Wadi Natrun of Egypt.

The preservation of the Al-Suryan texts is their first major project.
